The internet operates at speeds that often transcend comprehension
BEYOND CONTROL was an art press publication that celebrated the analog sophistication of the newspaper era. Designed as a quarterly exhibition on paper, it featured artist stories, educational highlights, and interactive features, connecting readers to the heart of culture and creativity. Distributed worldwide, BEYOND CONTROL was available exclusively in-person at CONTROL Gallery and the BEYOND THE STREETS Flagship in Los Angeles.
A highlight of the publication was featuring cultural icons such as Cheech Marin, a famed actor best known for his role in Cheech & Chong but also a leading figure in the world of Chicano art. Marin has long been a champion of Chicano artists, building one of the most extensive private collections of Chicano art in the U.S. His dedication to preserving and promoting this art culminated in the opening of The Cheech Marin Center for Chicano Art & Culture in Riverside, California. The museum serves as a cultural landmark, housing works from Marin's collection and highlighting the rich contributions of Chicano artists to the broader art world.
Featuring his story in BEYOND CONTROL was a significant cultural moment, aligning with the project’s mission of showcasing diverse voices and stories from communities of color.
